Steve Wozniak

- Received a degree in electrical engineering/computer science from UC Berkeley.
- Has received ten Honorary Doctor of Engineering degrees.
- Was awarded the National Medal of Technology by President Ronald Reagan in 1985, the nation’s highest award for inventors.
- In 2000, Wozniak was inducted into the Inventors Hall of Fame.
- Awarded the Hoover Medal.
- Listed on the Top 50 Keynote Speakers in the World
Other Contributions:
- Co-founded Apple with Steve Jobs.
- Was one of the main designers of the Apple I and the Macintosh.
- The Apple II had a floppy disk, built in keyboard, and a color monitor.
Ada Lovelace
Birth: December 10, 1815
Death: November 27, 1852
Major Academic Events:
- Studied with the famous mathematician Augustus De Morgan
- Helped describe Charles Babbage's famous Analytical Machine, even adding her own thoughts, including the world’s first computer program.
- The second Tuesday in October each year is now known as Ada Lovelace Day.
Other Contributions:
- Thanks to her open mindedness and creative thinking skills, Lovelace’s computer program was nearly a century ahead of its time.
- Her theory that computers will not be able to create original work without learning from humans still holds true to this day, over two hundred years after her death.
- She recognized the limitless potential of the computer, suggesting that it could manipulate not only numbers, but symbols as well.
